"...And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them." Hebrews 11:13-16

Selkirk, Manitoba

Well it's finally happened, I'm going out on a blitz trip this weekend with the music team from CPC. In all four years of going to school here I've never gone with the Blitz team. For those of you who don't go to CPC a blitz team is a group of students from the school that go out to churches to do ministry for a weekend. They travel all over Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Apparently it is good times. I'm going to fulfill a part of my Advanced Preaching class, which is really a make-up class for missing Preaching 2 and 3! I am going to be preaching Friday night at Youth. I've never preached to youth before so it should be interesting. I think that it will be a great weekend. I'll let you know how it goes when I get back.

I want to be the PEZident

Wouldn't that be great!! The president of the PEZ company is actually called the PEZindent. I think that rocks. I was thinking that I should put some pics of my PEZ on my blog. I have something like 116 now plus three 12" PEZ!! The 12" PEZ rock because not only do they dispence packages of PEZ but they play theme songs! I have C3PO and R2D2, which play Star Wars and Ernie who plays Sesame Street. I did however forget to take a picture of them.

The Star Wars PEZ are my favorite ones. My first PEZ was Yoda. I got it when the Star Wars Trilogy was re-released into theatres.

2 weeks growth

So my hair is growing in quite nicely. Unfortunately the white hair decided to come back as well!!

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope that you all have a wonderful day whether or not you have a significant other. To me V-day is about doing little things to let those you love know how much they are appreciated. I feel very appreciated and loved this Valentine's Day. I received a parcel from my Mom today. Inside was a big container of Cinnamon Heart Popcorn. It was nice to know that she missed me. Spending time at home with the parental units makes them miss you when you leave. Yay for parcels from Mom... maybe I'll get one at Easter too!!

I love Cinnamon Heart Popcorn so I thought I'd share the recipe. It's easy to make and is super good.

Cinnamon Heart Popcorn
Ingredients:
  • 32 cups of popped corn (not popcorn kernels, already popped popcorn!)
  • 9 oz. cinnamon heart candies (just over 1 cup)
  • 1 cup of butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup white corn syrup

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 250'F
  • Put all ingredients except popcorn in a pot. Melt ingredients at Med heat until the cinnamon hearts are melted. Let mixture come to a boil, boil for 5 minutes stirring constantly.
  • Take a large bowl or roaster to mix the popcorn with the melted cinnamon hearts. Mix well.
  • Put popcorn onto cookie sheets and place in preheated oven for 1 hour stirring popcorn every 15 minutes to make sure the popcorn is covered evenly.
  • Popcorn will cool quickly. When cooled place into air tight containers or bags
  • Enjoy:)

Here's the Low down...

We had College Connection 2006 last weekend at CPC. On Friday night we had a rally at Elim Tabernacle where we had a mission fundraiser. I was part of the fundraiser or perhaps better said, "subject to the fundraiser". I had given my head for a price. If the Connectors raised more than $500 I would shave my head and they did so admirably. Scott Wilson also got his head shaved for the fundraiser... I feel a connection to him now. Here are some pictures of the progression of my hair loss. The last one is after Stefani bicked my head for me. Her name was drawn to shave my head as well. It was a bonding moment.

Here's a side view of my head. I had no idea what my head was going to look like. It turns out that it is fairly uhmmm...shapely? It's not all lumpy and egg-headed like I thought it was going to be.
I'm really glad that I did it. I had a brief moment of wondering if I was insane but it passed. I do feel however that I need to wear a button that says, "No, I don't have cancer". People assume that I do. I have decided however that if, my hair continues to thin out as I get older, I am going to shave it. Not like a skin head but like army short. If I get bored I can change it up with shaving some funky designs in my hair.

"Oh Baldina..."

Okay so being bald is a very weird and unique experience. I dont' know if guys go through the same thing but apparently bald women are not that common. People try not to stare but I catch a lot of sideways glances and eyes quickly diverting elsewhere we make contact. I'm not really bothered by it but I do wonder what they are thinking. Do they wonder if I have cancer? Or maybe that I'm some sort of punk anarchist? Or maybe they think that I botched my last hair dying job so I just shaved my head to save myself the embarrassment! Who knows. I'm just really curious. If you have any genius ideas what people might be thinking let me know.

"S" "U" "N" "D" "A" "Y" Night

Okay so I know it's supposed to be "Saturday Night" but what could I do? It's Sunday.

So tonight Nicole, Stefani and I went to see "Pride and Prejudice". It was my third time seeing it and I loved every moment of it. We had decided to go early to get a little shopping in but unfortunately we got there just as the stores closed:( We had 1h 20mins to kill.

We looked at all the art work on display, giving our opinions on which we liked and which we didn't. We went to the candy store where this guy made fun of my laugh and Nicole stood up for me:) What a good friend. We eventually gave up, bought our tickets and went in... except that they weren't letting anyone in yet so we waited some more in the lobby where we made the time pass by taking pictures of ourselves and, ahem, an "un-named" friend touched Dennis Quaid's crotch.

The movie was wonderful. I love romantic movies... or anything romantic for that matter. Nicole choking on her own spit during the movie was not one of those moments... but it was hilarious.

After the movie we decided to go to the Broadway Roastery on Broadway (there's one on 8th as well). We were all in a very hyper mood and everything seemed so ridiculous. Nicole was laughing so hard she started hiccupping, which made me snort and you can just imagine how it went from there. There was however two gentleman there who had amazingly hot accents. And yes guys accents make a difference!!

On the way home we drove down by the river and I told Nicole and Stefani my romantic story of how I met Dave. Unfortunately the only thing romantic was that weekend... and I'll leave it at that. When we were almost home we were almost killed by Eau de Nicole... it was a very near escape.

Sometimes the best times with friends are when you just hang out and do whatever takes your fancy at the moment... when you can relax and just be who you are. Tonight was one of those nights.

Dressing up for Stef's B-day

These are some of the temporary tatoos that I brought back from Sri Lanka with me. It's the first time that I wore them. It was quite fun dressing up for Stefani's birthday. The only things that I had to dress up in were my Sri Lankan clothes. Esther have you worn your tatoos yet?
