"...And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them." Hebrews 11:13-16

Another Funeral

This time the funeral was for a Buddhist. The man who died committed suicide. He was a middle aged business man. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death here in Sri Lanka. Many people don't have any hope. The man must have been very well known because the funeral procession was huge. It took about 15 minutes for it to pass our house.

The Buddhists hang the white streamers when someone dies. The Christians hang black flags with white crosses on them. The Hindus have dancing and singing. The Muslims don't do much because they have to be burried within 24 hours. Only the Muslim men go to the graveside.

The lead car is followed by many people walking carrying the casket.

Everyone follows the precession to the graveside in their vechiles. There is usually a big bus at the end of the line that takes all the people who don't have vehicles.
